The Complex Claims Manager at Selective Insurance is responsible for overseeing the Specialty Complex Claims unit, ensuring compliance with company policies and delivering superior customer service. This remote position, ideally located in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic region, involves managing a team of Complex Claims Specialists, driving optimal claims outcomes, and maintaining high professional standards in claims processing.
Responsibilities
Ā Proactively manage the Specialty Complex Claims unit in accordance with company claims policies and procedures.

Ā Drive optimum claims outcomes while supporting operational goals and delivering superior customer service.

Ā Plan, control, and coordinate claims activity and workflow to maintain professional standards and meet deadlines.

Ā Ensure timely settlement of claims and maintain acceptable closing ratios for the department.

Ā Prepare and monitor the operating budget for the unit/department.

Ā Recommend and implement claims procedural changes in accordance with company guidelines.

Ā Maintain override capability and authorize settlements up to designated authority limits.
,
Ā Oversee combined loss ratio and productivity numbers to ensure compliance with company standards.

Ā Control allocated claims expenses and provide performance management for personnel.

Ā Conduct claims reviews and settlement conferences, mediating complaints and disputes.
Requirements
Ā College degree required; JD preferred.

Ā 10+ years of claims experience.
,
Ā 5+ years of claims supervisory experience.
,
Ā Ability to lead a team of complex claims specialists with expertise in complex coverage and high exposure claims.

Ā Excellent people and management skills for performance management.

Ā Ability to analyze reports and conduct trend analysis to identify issues.

Ā Experience in complex coverage analysis and large loss evaluations.

Ā Superior communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Ā Excellent presentation skills.

Ā Moderate proficiency with standard business software (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
