Job Description
Our travel and hospitality client in Tampa is in search of a Communications Coordinator (PR). This is a temporary/contract role. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about storytelling, brand reputation and building meaningful relationships with the media. The successful candidate will help execute PR campaigns and ensure consistent, compelling messaging across all external touchpoints.
Responsibilities:
• Support the development and execution of comprehensive public relations strategies to elevate brand visibility and reputation
• Craft and distribute press releases, media advisories, pitches, talking points and other PR collateral that reflect messaging and voice
• Proactively identify and pitch newsworthy stories to media outlets, working to secure earned coverage across print, digital and broadcast platforms
• Build and maintain strong media relationships at the national, regional and local levels, with a focus on creating long-term value
• Monitor news coverage, track media mentions and compile performance reports to measure campaign effectiveness
• Assist in planning and executing press events, interviews and media opportunities that align with broader communications goals
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including marketing, social media and executive leadership to ensure PR messaging is consistent and aligned
• Maintain and regularly update media contact lists and PR calendars
• Stay on top of industry trends, media shifts, competitor activity and emerging PR best practices
Required Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience in public relations, media relations or strategic communications
• Available to attend Tampa area events
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to tailor messages to various audiences
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Proficient in media monitoring and distribution tools (e.g., Cision, Meltwater)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Familiarity with or connections in the Tampa Bay media market is a big plus
Preferred Skills:
• Communications experience within the travel and hospitality industry
• Exceptional writing skills with a portfolio of PR or editorial content
• Experience supporting or coordinating events, press conferences or media briefings
• Understanding of how PR integrates with social media and digital marketing strategies
