Collections Specialist

The Collections Specialist role involves maintaining contact with B2B customers to ensure timely payment of outstanding balances and providing excellent customer service while resolving accounts receivable issues.ResponsibilitiesAccountable for reducing delinquency for assigned accountsHigh volume of inbound and outbound email and phone calls for B2B collectionsOvercome objections that customers may have about making payments toward their account and help them understand their responsibilitiesProvide thorough and accurate documentation to support collection attemptsResearch accounts receivable issues as required or directedResolve accounts receivable issues, such as invoice discrepancies and customer overpayments, by providing excellent customer serviceProcess customer refunds and account adjustmentsOrganize workload to ensure accurate and complete collections for each eventEnlist the efforts of Sales and Senior Management when necessary to accelerate the collection processCommunicate and follow up effectively with sales departments regarding customer accounts on a timely basisLiaison with an outside collection agency on delinquent accountsMaintain excellent customer service internally and externallyPerform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Accounts Receivable Dept., including gathering documentation needed to place accounts with CollectionsAdhere to general accounting practices where applicableSkillsHigh School Graduate or EquivalentStrong attention to detail, goal orientedStrong organizational skillsComputer proficient in MS Excel, MSWord and other MS Office applicationsCommitment to excellent customer serviceExcellent written and verbal communication abilitiesAble to both work independently and as an integral part of teamAbility to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilitiesKnowledge of Accounts Receivable and collection processes preferredBenefitsGreat community: a welcoming culture with in-person and online social events, our fantastic Walk the World charity day and active colleague groups and networks promoting a positive, supportive, and collaborative work environmentBroader impact: take up to four days per year to volunteer, with charity match funding available tooCareer opportunity: the opportunity to develop your career with bespoke training and learning, mentoring platforms and on-demand access to thousands of courses on LinkedIn Learning.
