The Role: Halcyon’s mission is to deliver an anti-ransomware solution that redefines what a security product can achieve. To support this vision, we are seeking an experienced Cloud Test Engineer to strengthen our test automation, chaos engineering, and quality initiatives across Halcyon’s cloud platform—including APIs, UI, and backend components. In this role, you’ll collaborate with the broader development organization and the chaos engineering team to ensure our code consistently meets the highest quality standards. Your work will directly enable Halcyon’s product to perform reliably across diverse scenarios, helping protect our customers from ransomware threats. Responsibilities: Design, implement, and enhance Halcyon’s internal cloud API automation framework Develop scalable automated test suites aligned with new feature development Create clear, concise bug reports and technical documentation Build and enhance performance testing tools for cloud services Design and maintain utilities that expand test coverage and validation Set up, manage, and optimize test environments for cloud-based applications Configure, manage, and tune security scanning tools Contribute to and uphold coding style and quality guidelines Skills and Qualifications: 3+ years of relevant experience as a Cloud Test Engineer, QA/Automation Engineer, or similar role Proficiency in Python development Experience with AWS services in support of cloud-based applications Hands-on experience with cloud technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and VMware Understanding of microservices architecture and concepts Knowledge of web API endpoints, including authentication, usage, and load testing Familiarity with protocols and formats such as JSON, Protobuf, and gRPC Strong communication skills, including documentation and reporting Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-growth start-up environment where collaboration and innovation are valued Bonus Skills and Qualifications: Strong knowledge of PyTest framework concepts (parameterization, fixtures, decorators) Familiarity with additional programming languages such as Scala or JScript Experience developing automated tests for Linux applications Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD pipelines Understanding of web application security principles and best practices Knowledge of AWS infrastructure security best practices Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes security best practices Experience with security tools such as SAST, DAST, SCA, or IaC scanners Benefits: Halcyon offers the following benefits to eligible employees: Comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents. The Company reserves the right to modify or change these benefits programs at any time, with or without notice.​ Base Salary Range: $135,000 - 170,000 In accordance with applicable state and federal laws, the range provided is Halcyon’s reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. Base pay is one part of the total package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and equity in the Company.
