Job Overview: PENNEP is seeking a talented and dedicated Cloud Application Architect with extensive healthcare system expertise to join our client’s dynamic team and lead the migration and modernization of clinical and third-party applications on Azure and AWS. This role is responsible for shaping and guiding cloud-first architectures that enhance performance, compliance, and operational efficiency for healthcare organizations. The ideal candidate brings proven experience working with Epic, Cerner, and key ancillary platforms, along with a strong track record of delivering EMR/EHR ecosystem transformations, cloud migrations, and data-center modernization programs. Roles & Responsibilities: • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of cloud solutions for clinical and third-party healthcare applications on Azure and AWS. • Assess current application landscapes, identify modernization opportunities, and develop cloud-ready architectures. • Guide end-to-end migration strategies—including workload assessment, blueprinting, data integration, and go-live execution. • Collaborate with application owners, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity, and clinical informatics stakeholders to ensure secure and compliant cloud deployments. • Evaluate existing EMR/EHR environments (Epic, Cerner, ancillary systems) and define architectural improvements for performance, availability, and interoperability. • Develop and maintain architecture standards, best practices, and reference models for healthcare cloud environments. • Perform cloud readiness assessments, risk analysis, and cost optimization reviews. • Validate architectural designs, troubleshoot migration challenges, and provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle. • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, HITRUST, and other healthcare regulatory standards. • Provide technical mentorship to engineering teams and support project governance discussions with leadership. Required Skills and Experience: • 8–12+ years of experience in application architecture, cloud engineering, or enterprise architecture. • Proven hands-on experience with Epic, Cerner, and ancillary healthcare systems. • Strong expertise in Azure and AWS cloud platforms, including architecture frameworks, security models, and modernization tools. • Experience delivering cloud migration, data-center transformation, or large-scale healthcare IT modernization projects. Preferred Skill: • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect Expert, TOGAF, HITRUST). Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field.
