Wawanesa Insurance is one of Canada’s largest mutual insurers, and they are seeking a Claims Adjuster 1 for their Auto Physical Damage department. The role involves delivering exceptional service through the adjustment of low complexity auto physical damage claims and ensuring timely communication with policy holders.ResponsibilitiesProvide direction and support to our members, throughout the claims process, by providing exceptional service delivered with empathyEnsure timely and proactive communication, through voice to voice, digital and written correspondence, ensuring that all inquiries are effectively dealt with in a timely and professional mannerAdjustment of low complexity auto physical damage claimsReview and interpret policy wordings, determine policy coverage, and communicate coverage decisions to members (policy holders)Establish timely and accurate loss and expense reserves through the life of the claim through evaluation of relevant information from sources such as appraisers, third party adjusters, and auto repair facilitiesEnsure a comprehensive investigation is conducted on all files to determine coverages and liability, while adhering to Wawanesa’s adjusting guidelines, and recognizing when to engage appropriate internal and external resourcesCollaborate directly with vendors such as: appraisers, rental companies, repair facilities and other business partners inside and outside the organization to coordinate servicesNegotiating and conveying claim settlements within authority limitsCommunicating claim decisions promptly and effectively, while still delivering an exceptional customer experienceMaintain an effective and current diary system and document claim file activities in accordance with established proceduresRemain up to date with legislative changes and trends in the insurance industry as well as complying with all provincial requirementsSupport CAT plan as necessary, including potentially assisting on claims outside of your service areaPerform other duties as assignedSkillsExceptional customer service skills demonstrating empathy and concern for member satisfactionExcellent communication skills; listening, written, and spokenGood investigative and analytical skillsDetail oriented with a high degree of accuracy regarding data entryExcellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast paced, changing environmentGood negotiation, decision making and critical thinking skills as well as a willingness to improveStrong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate with others1 year of insurance or Customer service experience preferredPost-secondary degree is preferredWillingness to work toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation and where required, dedicated to reach the proper licensing requirementsBenefitsAnnual bonus planLeave of absence top-up programsGenerous vacation timePersonal daysPremium free benefitsPension planCompany OverviewWawanesa Insurance offers a breadth of insurance products.
