What You’ll Do
As a Civil Engineering Intern at RSP Engineers, you’ll assist our project teams in preparing engineering documents and technical reports for residential, commercial, and municipal site development projects. You’ll gain hands-on experience with design tools, fieldwork, and regulatory processes relevant to Florida’s unique conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct due diligence and site investigation research
• Review zoning codes and utility availability to prepare development feasibility summaries
• Assist in drafting conceptual site plans, grading, and stormwater design
• Support preparation of erosion control plans and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Help produce hydrology and utility reports (sanitary, water, drainage)
• Participate in field visits and data collection for active projects
• Collaborate with project managers and licensed engineers to meet permitting and design goals
• Prepare internal memos and communication to agencies, clients, and team members
Qualifications
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• 0–2 years of civil/site engineering experience (residential or commercial/industrial)
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Knowledge of hydrology and stormwater modeling tools such as Hydraflow, PondPack, or ICPR
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with Bluebeam or Adobe PDF markups a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
