JOB DESCRIPTION JOB CLASSIFICATION: In-Home Co-Therapist Working Title: In-Home Co-Therapist This position involves providing direct in-home intervention for severely emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children and their families within the J.B.S. catchment area. This employee is responsible for providing individual, parenting, and family therapy with an In-Home Team Leader. The In-Home Team will have a maximum caseload of 5-6 families for twelve- sixteen weeks for each family. The Team will also provide 8-12 hours of weekly direct service to each family. The primary mission of the intervention is to reduce a crisis situation, institute a therapeutic process and prevent out of home placement of a child. Supervised By: Children Services Assistant Clinical Director Division: Children’s Services Normal Working Hours/Days: Monday-Friday. Times will vary to meet client/family needs. Must participate in a 24-hour on-call roster. PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS Responsible for assessing and implementing treatment programs for children/adolescents with a serious emotional disturbance and their families. Responsible for providing direct In-Home therapy to 5-6 families for up to 16 weeks. This includes both individual and family therapy. Responsible for providing accurate documentation in clinical charts on a weekly basis to include intakes, case formulations, and all therapy sessions in electronic medical records Responsible for the completion of required documentation to assess the family and child’s needs and to meet service delivery accountability requirements via electronic medical records system Facilitate in-home therapy sessions, and implements the treatment program without direct supervision. Responsible for providing weekly schedule of appointments and hours to the Assistant Clinical Director. Must be able to provide and present clinical assessments, treatment goals and progress to the Assistant Clinical Director at weekly staff meetings. Must work closely with the Department of Human Resources, School Systems, Community Mental Health Centers, and Family Court in the selection of, and treatment provided to, children and their families. Provide transportation to children and families when appropriate. Performs other administrative duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, social work, counseling or other related human services field with an emphasis on clinical services for children and adolescents is required. Two years experience working with the children/adolescents with seriously emotionally/behaviorally disturbance mild mental retardation intellectually and their families in a community setting with an emphasis on clinical services is preferred. Valid Alabama driver’s license and a suitable automobile to permit the required travel. Must show car insurance equal to or in excess of the State of Alabama standards for automobile insurance coverage. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of the special needs of behavioral characteristics of severely emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children and their families. Knowledge of psychotherapy principles and techniques. Knowledge of professional and ethical principles. Demonstrable communication skills-both expressive and written Ability to organize and manage one’s own activities with a minimum of direct supervision. Knowledge of psychotropic medications to include their use and their side effects. Ability to perform individual and family therapy to include behavior modification, parental education and problem solving skills. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with the Team Leader, Assistant Clinical Director, and Director Knowledge of and ability to use a computer and computer programs to perform daily duties Knowledge of community and available resources Skilled in interpersonal relationships and dynamics Ability to work flexible hours due to the special needs of the children and their families. Participate on a rotating 24-hour on call roster.
