Children's Book Illustrator Needed - Cinematic Adventure Story (25-40 Illustrations)
Project Overview
I am creating a children’s book titled “They Prepared Us”, a cinematic, adventure-driven story for ages 8–10ish (with appeal to adults as well).
The story follows three siblings who travel across the world to rescue their parents, using awareness, teamwork, and problem-solving. The book includes multiple environments such as mountains, ocean depths, desert, jungle, and space.
I am looking for an illustrator who can bring this story to life with consistent characters, strong environments, and a semi-realistic “realistic cartoon” style.

- Approximately 25–40 full-page illustrations
- Landscape format
- Full-bleed images with text overlay
- Consistent character design across all scenes
- Multiple environments (varied and cinematic)

Art Style
- Semi-realistic, “realistic cartoon”
- Not overly cartoonish, not hyper-realistic
- Cinematic lighting and composition
- Expressive but grounded characters
- Looking for details in the gear and scenes. Will have all of this available upfront

Characters
Three main children (reference image available):
Parents and one antagonist will also appear.
Character consistency is extremely important.

Key Visual Elements
- Global adventure settings (Everest, ocean, desert, jungle, space)
- A subtle recurring symbol integrated into scenes
- Environment-specific clothing/gear progression
- Mix of action and quiet, thoughtful moments

Tone of the Book
- Adventure-driven but not overly violent
- Focus on awareness, decision-making, and teamwork
- Emotional but not overly heavy
- Suitable for children while still engaging for adults

Deliverables
- High-resolution illustrations (print-ready)
- Consistent style across all pages
- Source files preferred (PSD or equivalent)

- Ability to maintain character consistency across many scenes
