About the position

This position is responsible for the evaluation, treatment planning, referral, care management, individual follow-up, and group therapy based on clinical evaluations of targeted populations. The role acts as a consultant and liaison to physicians and clinical staff as well as outside agencies. The individual will complete mental status and psychosocial assessments of members, providing both individual and group psychotherapy and classes, in person and through telemedicine, while implementing goal-specific and measurable treatment plans. The position also involves evaluating, counseling, and referring members to more appropriate mental health providers or community resources when indicated. In addition to providing urgent care and crisis intervention as needed, the role requires the provision of more specialized treatment modalities when qualified by special training. Regular consultation with psychiatrists on member care is expected, along with communication with Behavioral Health colleagues, Primary Care providers, and other Kaiser Permanente providers and agencies to facilitate integrative care. The individual will prepare and submit reports on mental health activities as requested and participate in staff development meetings and quality of care activities on a regular basis. Managing panel and practice management within departmental guidelines is also a key responsibility, along with performing other related duties as assigned. The position offers a flexible remote work schedule, with three days in-office and two days remote work, and operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with one evening shift per week from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm.

Responsibilities
• Completes mental status and psychosocial assessment of members.

Requirements
• Masters degree in social work, Master of Counseling, Master of Marriage and Family Therapist, Master of Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.

• Credentials from the primary work state are required before hire.
,
• Clinical Professional Counselor License (Maryland) within 12 months of hire OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker - Certified (Maryland) within 12 months of hire.
,
• Professional Counselor License (Virginia) within 12 months of hire OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Virginia) within 12 months of hire OR Social Worker License (Virginia) within 12 months of hire.
,
• Licensed Social Worker (District of Columbia) within 12 months of hire OR Independent Clinical Social Worker License (District of Columbia) within 12 months of hire OR Professional Counselor License (District of Columbia) within 12 months of hire.

• National Provider Identifier required at hire.
,
• Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association.
,
• Able to rapidly adapt to change.
,
• Treatment planning expertise.
,
• Strong assessment and diagnostic skills.
,
• Strong individual and group therapy skills.
,
• Enrollment in PECOS within 90 days of hire required.
,
• Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software required.
,
• Customer focus and strong ability to function as a team member.

• Efficient and effective practice management in a fast-paced clinical setting.
,
• Must complete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within 6 months of hire date.

Nice-to-haves
• Minimum one (1) year of experience providing individual and group therapy preferred.

• Minimum one (1) year of experience providing urgent care or crisis intervention preferred.

• Minimum one (1) year of experience providing CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) preferred.

• Experience providing DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) preferred.

• Experience working with Eating Disorder, OCD, and/or Borderline Personality Disorder Populations preferred.
