The role involves conducting evaluations of energy and industrial facilities, preparing reports on upgrades and compliance projects, and working with multi-disciplined teams to enhance environmental systems.ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and review the design of air and water quality control projects for the energy and industrial marketPrepare preliminary engineering studies for modifying and retrofitting air quality control projects on existing energy and industrial facilitiesIndependently verify the design of vendor-supplied equipmentAnalyze technical issues, prepare accompanying system specification data, and present your findings and proposals to clients and peersEvaluate the impact of legislation and regulatory initiatives with respect to air and water quality controls for new and existing energy and industrial sourcesPrepare complex environmental compliance evaluations and environmental permit applications, and interface with federal, state and local permitting agenciesEstablishing work priorities on a daily basis for multiple projects, and responding to requests from project managersMaintaining and enhancing your knowledge and understanding of industry standards and specifications, control system design, and new technology developmentsDeveloping your career via peer-learning and knowledge sharing with other engineers and participating in S&L’s System of Processes and our associated 'Communities of Practice.'Participating in industry code committees and conferencesProvide technical guidance to less experienced engineers, travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews, and travel to plant site locations for field verification of designsSkillsThis position requires a BS in Chemical Engineering or MS in Chemical Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic backgroundAn understanding of the practical application of chemical/process engineering and technology, including applying systems, principles, techniques, procedures to a project design, and mass and heat balancesStrong organizational skills with high attention to detailAbility to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions and meet deadlinesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with MS Office applicationsSuccessful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and designation as an Engineer-in-TrainingPrior, related internship or co-op experience is preferredKnowledge of any of the following programs: ASPEN or similar process modeling software, and Microsoft applicationsExperience or familiarity in the design or field engineering of large power industry environmental control systems including flue gas desulfurization systems, fabric filters, electrostatic precipitators, low-NOx combustion, and/or selective and non-catalytic NOx reductionFamiliarity or with major federal environmental regulatory programs such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery ActFamiliarity with ArcGIS to develop interactive maps showing critical environmental resources such as wetlands, critical habitats, and other sensitive receptorsRelated engineering internship or co-op work experienceBenefitsHealth Plans: Medical, Dental, VisionLife & Accident InsuranceDisability CoverageEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Back-Up DaycareFSA & HSA401(k)Pre-Tax Commuter AccountMerit Scholarship ProgramEmployee Discount ProgramCorporate Charitable Giving ProgramTuition AssistanceFirst Professional Licensure BonusEmployee Referral BonusPaid Annual Personal/Sick Time (PST)Paid VacationPaid HolidaysPaid Parental LeavePaid Bereavement LeaveFlexible Work ArrangementsCompany OverviewSargent & Lundy is a power generated company that provides technical expertise and integration for global use.
