JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose Capital is a finance partner for entrepreneurial-minded Founders and Executive Directors who lead high-impact organizations. Our services include part-time CFO and other advisory support for our client base of small businesses and nonprofits across a variety of industries. We are expanding our team of financial consultants to support our growing business.

Summary/Objective

We are looking for a financial consultant that can support the CEO to ensure integrity and accuracy of key client deliverables and serve as a functional expert. The consultant will serve as a leader and partner for a growing portfolio of Charter School clients and assist the CEO with client relations and serve as a strategic thought partner.

Hours are flexible but due to the nature of the work, availability during our standard business hours (9AM – 5PM EST) is necessary to meet business needs and deadlines.

Anticipated Hours to start: approximately 15-20 per week, with dependency on work distribution and business needs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Develop multi-year operating budgets and proformas for charter schools

• Analyze data to prepare budget vs actual analysis, cash flow forecasts, and ad hoc reports.

• Assist with daily client relations and support the CEO with timely submission of client deliverables

• Partner with school leadership teams and provide financial expertise to support them in making strategic organizational decisions

• Help develop best in class processes, tools and templates to drive efficiencies

• Create value-added financial power point presentations while providing the rationale behind analysis, to relay them in simple terms to leadership teams

• Perform financial management duties including generating financial data, compiling and submitting reports and assessing the financial health of the schools.

• Assist with training and development of junior team members

• Perform a variety of ad hoc financial analysis as needed

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, accounting, or a related major is required, Master’s degree is a plus.

• 5+ years of experience working in corporate or non-profit finance

• Expertise in reviewing and analyzing financial statements.

• Understanding of budget/forecast principles and performance management activities.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Finance experience working in the K-8 education space highly preferred

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power point required.

• Expertise in financial modeling and analysis, with relevant work experience developing operational budgets for organizations with $5MM+ revenue

• Expertise in financial planning and analysis

• Experience with federal grant budgeting and management

• Strong numerical aptitude and high attention to detail.

• Excellent analytical and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

• Must be available during normal business hours to assist with urgent requests as needed

Work Environment

100% remote/work-from-home position.

This is a part-time 1099 contractor position approximately 15-20 hours per week with the potential to increase as business needs expand.
