Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPht)
Summary: Supports pharmacological services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications. Responsible for assisting the pharmacist with non- professional duties to ensure that the Pharmacy Department is in full compliance with all state, federal, DHEC, and Board of Pharmacy laws, rules and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a customer friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer and maintaining outstanding standards.
Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication.
Pharmacy procedures/duties: count and pour; fill and dispense; pharmacy records maintenance; type refills and new prescriptions.
Responsible for receiving pharmaceuticals and OTC merchandise.
Maintains a complete and thorough understanding of products in the store.
Maintains records by recording and filing physicians orders and prescriptions.
Helps health care providers and patients by greeting them in person or by phone; answering questions and requests; referring inquiring to pharmacist.
Fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules, and inputs prescriptions into computer system.
Filing and calling third party insurance to ensure proper reimbursement and payment.
Has a complete understanding of POS system and assists with register sales for all customers.
Checks pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed medication and supplies; placing and expediting orders; removing outdated drugs; putting away drugs throughout the day in an orderly manner to assure shelves are kept organized.
Must be capable of maintaining production standards and reviewing work.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
