Job Title: Certified Medical Coder - Inpatient & Outpatient/ED Location: Bronx, NY 10461 (Remote) Type: Contract Pay Rate: $35 - $37 per hour Note: This role is fully remote after 1-2 weeks of onsite training. Job Summary "Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking Certified Medical Coder - Inpatient & Outpatient/ED for an exciting Remote job in Bronx, NY. Key Responsibilities Medical Coding & Documentation Review • Assign accurate ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes for Inpatient, Outpatient, and ED encounters. • Review clinical documentation, physician notes, operative reports, and diagnostic findings for correct code assignment. • Validate coding for medical necessity per payor and federal guidelines. • Ensure coding accuracy to support appropriate reimbursement and reduce denials. • Query providers regarding incomplete or unclear documentation. Compliance & Quality Assurance • Adhere to CMS, AHIMA, AHA, and facility-specific coding standards. • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and payor billing regulations. • Stay current with coding updates and policy changes. • Participate in internal audits and quality improvement activities. • Meet established productivity and accuracy benchmarks. Required Skills • Advanced knowledge of ICD-9-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, and multi-specialty medical terminology. • Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and clinical workflows. • Proven experience in acute care coding, including: • Inpatient • Outpatient • Emergency Department (ED) • Ability to interpret and apply complex coding guidelines. • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills. • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
