Business Intelligence and Analytics (BIA) Developer
The California Franchise Tax Board is looking for a Business Intelligence and Analytics (BIA) Developer to join their Technology Services Division. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise data integration solutions, ensuring data quality, integrity, and compliance with governance standards.ResponsibilitiesPerform complex technical work related to the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise data integration solutions for FTB's enterprise data storesProvide technical support for enterprise data access, reporting, and ad hoc queriesAnalyze business and technical requirementsDevelop and maintain data integration workflowsEnsure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance with enterprise architecture and data governance standardsMaintain expert knowledge of FTB enterprise systems, data architecture, data models, and source systemsServe as a technical lead on assigned initiativesCollaborate with Bureau and Technology Services Division (TSD) staff on system planning, development, testing, and implementation activitiesPromote a professional, collaborative work environmentMaintain effective working relationships with representatives across the departmentSkillsExperience writing complex SQL queries in DB2 or Microsoft SQL and other scripting languagesExperience reading and understanding relational database Physical Data Model (PDMM)Experience working on large-scale Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) projectsKnowledge and experience of ETL process and tools such as IBM DataStage, Informatica or Microsoft SSISKnowledge of Apache Hive or Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)Knowledge of Big Data or Data streaming tools such as JSON, Python, HQLExperience in PySpark Data FrameworkKnowledge and experience delivering and supporting data solutionsAbility to troubleshoot and resolve the complex data issuesStrong interpersonal, problem solving, analytical, planning, collaboration, motivation, and negotiation skillsExcellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats with technical staff and managementAbility to work both independently and in a team environment while demonstrating initiative, integrity, ownership, and accountabilityAbility to work effectively by organizing multiple workloads, and determining strategies to complete work on timeExperience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Team Foundation Server (TFS) and SharePoint)Knowledge of Franchise Tax Board's Legacy tax systems and functionsCompany OverviewThe Franchise Tax Board is responsible for administering two of California's major tax programs: personal income tax and corporation tax.
