Bookkeeper (Remote in Virginia)
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a strong understanding of financial concepts, including GAAP principles.
Duties
• Maintain accurate financial records through double-entry bookkeeping practices.
• Prepare and process journal entries, ensuring all debits and credits are accurately recorded.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoicing and payment processing.
• Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports, including budget analysis and account reconciliation.
• Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms for efficient record-keeping.
• Ensure compliance with governmental accounting regulations and non-profit accounting standards when applicable.
• Provide support for payroll processing and tax-related tasks as needed.
• Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies or areas for improvement in financial processes.
• Collaborate with team members to enhance overall financial management practices.
Experience
• Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles is essential.
• Familiarity with corporate accounting practices is preferred; experience in non-profit or public accounting is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of financial concepts, including general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, budgeting, and financial report writing.
• Proficiency in using various accounting software tools; experience with GAAP is highly desirable.
• Excellent 10 key typing skills for data entry accuracy.
