Your Role

The Biology Field Application Scientist (BFAS) is a pivotal role responsible for providing pre- and post-sales support for a range of instrumentation platforms, consumables, and software applications within MilliporeSigma Biology portfolio. As a BFAS you will be interacting with customers daily providing technical product information, trainings, troubleshooting, and support. The BFAS plays a crucial part in driving sales growth through pre- and post-sales application support within the field, playing a key role in differentiating and positioning products and services based on scientific, technical, and competitive principles.

Position Responsibilities
• Technical Sales Support: Provide pre- and post-sales technical support to MilliporeSigma Science and Lab Solutions Account Managers and Sales Specialists through internal product education, account-specific seminars, in-field training, and customer collaborations. Focus areas include Molecular Biology (gene editing), Specialty Cell Culture (organoids, stem cells, primary cells), and Proteomics (ELISAs, Multiplexing immunoassays).
• Instrumentation: Assist customers in adopting, converting to, and optimizing MilliporeSigma and partner instrumentation, including Luminex®, SMC®, BioTek plate washers, Millicell® ERS 3.0, Scepter™, and CellASIC® ONIX2.
• Collaborative Territory Planning: Work with commercial teams to develop territory plans that identify, nurture, and close product and instrumentation opportunities to meet or exceed sales targets.
• Customer Partnership: Scientifically partner with customers to provide proactive support on the proper usage and application of instrumentation, products, and data analysis.
• Relationship Building: Engage and cultivate relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and collaborate with the commercial team to manage customer partnerships.
• Technical Knowledge Acquisition: Rapidly acquire technical knowledge of MilliporeSigma innovations and integrate them into workflows. Drive awareness of new product introductions (NPI) through technical seminars, demonstrations, and networking.
• Conference Support: Represent the team at relevant conferences and tradeshows through speaking engagements and networking opportunities.
• Product Differentiation: Enhance the differentiation of products and services based on scientific, technical, and competitive principles.
• Customer Advocacy: Act as an internal advocate for customers by providing insights and feedback to the Commercial Organization, Commercial Marketing, and other stakeholders regarding customer needs, competitive intelligence, and market trends.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:
• BS degree with 8+ years’ experience or prior experience as an Application Scientist, Technical Support or Technical Sales is desired.
• Proactive learner passion for science and technology and pursuit of curiosity.
• Driven to excel as knowledge leader.
• Demonstrated ability to present technical, customer-facing seminars on scientific research topics and products.
• Ability to develop solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of innovation and collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed organization inspiring teamwork to achieve results.
• Excellent time management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Software in a business environment as well as CRM systems such as SFDC and Tableau
• Ability to work in the field 75% and overnight travel up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications
• *
• MS or PhD in biological sciences, or similar field, with three (3) or more years of work experience
• Prior experience as an Application Scientist, Technical Support or Technical Sales is desired
• Experience/background in Molecular Biology/ Genomics (CRISPR/shRNA), Cell Culture (preferably 3D cell culture/organoids/spheroids), and Immunoassays (Milliplex/Luminex, ELISAs, WB); ability to analyze and troubleshoot assay data, preferred.
• Assay Development and troubleshooting experience desired.

Pay range for this position: $102,000 - $171,100

Our ranges are derived from several sources, and largely reliant on relevant industry market data. Should we decide to make an offer, we will consider several factors, including but not limited to your location, skills, experience, career level, and other job-related factors.
