Job Summary
Owensboro Community and Technical College has openings for part-time Biology Adjunct Instructors to teach all levels of biology on-line. Assignment(s) will begin in the summer or fall semester. Common courses in which we are in need:• BIO 112: Intro to Biology (Lecture) 3 hours• BIO 113: Intro to Biology (Lab) 2 hours
Job Duties:
• Plans and carries our instruction, instructional activities, and prepares learning materials for in-person or online courses.• Provides instruction to students in the subject area.• Prepares lesson plans (as needed) and maintains records and reports on student attainment, attendance, retention activities and progress.• Utilizes approved online course template and syllabus format, maintains classroom order and discipline.• Provides timely feedback to students• Completes required trainings as necessary
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline (Biology) or closely related subject matter.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience teaching online, in-person, or hybrid courses is preferred.• Experience using Blackboard (or a similar learning management system as a delivery method for classes) is recommended. • Experience in and understanding of working with students from diverse populations is preferred.
Additional Skills Requested:
• Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment. • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment and external business and community partners, representing oneself professionally and courteously.• Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy. • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
