Job Summary As a Bilingual Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with our bilingual teachers and students to provide language support and reinforce learning objectives. This part-time position requires a strong and diverse skillset, including bilingual proficiency in English and Russian or Ukrainian. Key Responsibilities Work with assigned students or groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher Translate written documents at the request of the bilingual teacher, building principal, ELL Coordinator, or front office personnel Serve as an interpreter for parent conferences and telephone calls as needed Assist in preparation of instructional materials Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher in the absence of the bilingual teacher Provide clerical assistance to the bilingual teacher, including filing, record keeping, data entry, and copying Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others Essential Qualifications NCLB paraprofessional approval (or exempt with a valid Illinois teaching or substitute certificate) Bilingual proficiency in English and Russian or Ukrainian Ability to read, write, and speak English and Russian or Ukrainian Proficiency in using personal computers and general office equipment Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and organize files, communication, records, and databases Preferred Qualifications 60 semester hours of college-level credit Completed paraprofessional training program approved by ISBE or ICCB Passed ETS ParaPro assessment (460 or higher) Passed WorkKeys assessments (Applied Mathematics-4, Reading for Information-4, Writing/Business Writing-3, and Acceptable on Instructional Support Inventory) Skills and Competencies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents Strong organizational and time management skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits As a Bilingual Teaching Assistant, you'll have opportunities to grow and develop your skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.
