The Arc of Greater Haverhill- Newburyport is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1962 to advocate with and for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families throughout the Merrimack Valley and seacoast communities. Our DDS funded programs are currently seeking a full-time Support Advisor to a provide interim job coaching and life coaching to individuals with disabilities in their home, community, and/or work location. This role works in partnership with the individual, family members and the Arc staff in planning and implementing an individualized plan as related to the goals established at the ISP. Key Responsibilities: • Provide case management to adults with developmental disabilities, including maintaining documentation, assisting with generic community resources, overseeing medical appointments and participating in ISP goal implementation. • Participate in recruitment and provide feedback and guidance to direct care staff. • Identify and respond accordingly to crisis situations including psychiatric decompensations. • Attend meetings with DDS and maintain effective communication with Service Coordinators. • Collaborate with other team members to best support individuals served. • Provide general support to people with disabilities and families in a way that recognizes and respects their needs and dreams as well as ethnic and cultural diversity. • Provide emergency staff coverage and new individual intro support. • Provide direct care in acts of daily living, as needed, or in emergency situations. • To act as liaisons with local agencies and employers for opportunities in the community for individuals in our program. • Assist in the social integration and community activities that promote the individuals as capable, valued and accepted members of the community. • Work with Support Supervisors in creating ISP goals, completing ISP assessments, and attending meetings, as needed. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently while also knowing when to seek supervision around complex clinical or case management issues. They must be action-oriented and able to assist with crisis management, engaging in conflict resolution and must have excellent documentation skills. They must also be able to listen, motivate, and encourage individuals and must be able to shift gear from one task to another, as needed. The role is office based but will include some field work such as attending meetings and accompanying individuals and their staff to appointments, as needed. Experience in the field is required and experience with mental health issues is preferred. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor's Degree preferred. • Three to five years of experience required in the field, experience with mental health issues is preferred. • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. • Satisfactory background check and driving record. • Computer Skills including experience with Microsoft office is preferred.
