Job Overview

The Bariatric MBSAQIP Clinical Data Abstractor is responsible for the review and detailed abstraction of surgical and/or bariatric quality improvement program data from electronic medical records to help clients ensure compliance with nationally recognized patient care processes and improvement of clinical outcomes. The Bariatric MBSAQIP Clinical Data Abstractor is detail oriented, committed to high quality data abstraction, meets both quality and productivity standards, functions well independently and works well under time constraints to ensure deadlines are met.

Qualifications:
Ā• Minimum of 1 year experience as a MBSAQIP Data Abstractor, required.
Ā• Current MBSCR registry certification credentials, required
Ā• Proficient in industry related clinical registry data abstraction specifications manuals, data abstraction software systems and electronic medical record applications, required
Ā• Strong attention to detail.
Ā• Ability to work independently.
Ā• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Ā• Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google products
Ā• Exposure to quality improvement concepts and processes, preferred.
Ā• RN, RHIA/ RHIT, CPHQ, preferred

Essential Duties/Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Ā• Follows the project parameter/project roadmap document as the individual job description for each project assignment in conjunction with utilizing all industry related reference manuals (data abstraction specification manuals/resources), interpreting and applying all rules successfully.
Ā• Stays current on abstraction requirements and specifications at all times.
Ā• Reaches out to Registry Partners Management / Validation team for abstracting questions and/or clarifications as needed and consults industry related Q & A resources as needed.
Ā• Takes part in other registry operations tasks as assigned (i.e., follow up activities) by following standard operating procedures.
Ā• Meets defined Quality Standards after acclimating to a new project, for each case type assigned.
Ā• Meets defined Productivity Standards within four weeks of abstracting on a new project for each case type assigned.
Ā• Meets Productivity Standards for registry operations tasks as defined for each project assignment.

Other Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Ā• Provide timely responses to questions or concerns communicated by the Registry Partners project and validation management teams, executive management team, and corporate office team.
Ā• Understands and follows all Registry Partners internal corporate policies and procedures and client-based policies and procedures as requested.
Ā• Utilize the Registry Partners secure server and project folders/subfolders as the primary communication exchange for all assigned projects.
Ā• All other duties as assigned.
