Come join us and help deliver financial wellness for the whole family, putting the tools of wealth-making into everyone’s hands._______________________________________________________________________Backend Engineer II | AcornsAcorns is seeking an experienced Backend Engineer II for our Investment Products team who has a passion for building robust, scalable, software and systems for customer focused financial products, loves learning new technologies on the job, thinks creatively to solve complex problems, and enjoys working collaboratively.This role has the option to be remote or based in our Irvine, CA, or New York, NY offices.What you will do at Acorns:Contribute to production code by implementing ticketsSupport grooming and refining efforts in the engineering roadmapCollaborate cross-functionally with Product, Project Management, and Leadership teamsOptimize performance of business-critical processesAlign with engineering leadership to help define and promote team-wide priorities, including features, infrastructure, and toolingScope level of effort and deliver projects with internal and external teamsPropose scalable, efficient solutions to complex problemsLead and execute technical initiativesWhat you will bring to Acorns:3-4+ years of relevant experience building and supporting production softwareExpertise with SQL or NoSQL solutionsExperience with API design and implementation (REST/GraphQL)Strong understanding of object oriented and functional programming paradigmsExpertise in a major, dynamically typed, programming languageStrong understanding of algorithms, time complexity, data structures and design patternsStrong track record of good software engineering practices such as code reviews, deep focus on quality and documentationExperience with AWS is a plusExperience with Ruby and Typescript is a plusUnderstanding of GraphQL is a plusExperience with Databricks is a plus but not essentialThirst for delivering game-changing productsExceptional drive and precision in deliveryA belief that your work is tied to your life's missionOptimistic about the potential of societal changeStrong sense of ownershipPassionate about making high customer impact and moving key metricsHunger to deliver game-changing productsYou are not expected to have experience with all listed requirements. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, equity grants, and discretionary cash bonus awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
