Backend Engineer, Fintech Startup (Remote)

This is a high-impact opportunity to join a lean engineering team where you’ll own backend systems end-to-end and ship production code quickly. About the Role You’ll work on backend systems that power financial products used by thousands of customers. Responsibilities
• Own backend services from design through deployment
• Build scalable APIs and services powering financial products
• Design and implement backend architecture on AWS
• Ship production code frequently while maintaining quality
• Make pragmatic technical tradeoffs between speed and scalability
• Help define engineering best practices
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams
Requirements
• 3+ years backend engineering experience
• Experience building backend systems at a startup or fast-moving product company
• Strong experience with Node.js or Python
• Experience building APIs and scalable services
• AWS or similar cloud experience
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
• Comfortable working in fast-paced startup environments
Nice-to-haves
• Fintech or payments experience
• Experience with AI development tools (Cursor, Claude, etc.)
• Experience working at early-stage startups
• Experience scaling backend systems
