What your day-to-day looks like • Backend development – Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance RESTful APIs using NestJS. • Third-party integrations – Architect and integrate third-party services seamlessly, ensuring minimal performance impact. • Database management – Optimise schema design and query performance for PostgreSQL and other relational databases. • Code quality – Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following SOLID principles and DRY methodologies. • TypeScript & JavaScript – Develop robust backend services using TypeScript and JavaScript. • Security & performance – Implement best practices for security, scalability, and performance optimisation. • Collaboration – Work closely with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and product managers to deliver high-quality software. • Autonomous execution – Take ownership of development tasks, manage priorities effectively, and deliver high-quality code with minimal supervision. • Testing – Create and maintain test plans, and write unit and integration tests using Jest, Mocha, or similar frameworks. • Code reviews – Conduct peer code reviews and mentor junior developers to improve coding standards. What you bring to the table • 2+ years of experience in Node.js and TypeScript development • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and its advanced features • Hands-on experience with SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL • Experience with Prisma or similar ORM tools • Proficiency in Docker containerisation • Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments • Strong Git version control skills • Experience writing unit and integration tests • Knowledge of application security best practices • Skills in system monitoring and performance optimisation • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities • Self-motivated with a passion for learning new technologies • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services Bonus points if you have • Experience working with NestJS apps in production • Strong system design skills and an understanding of different engineering approaches • Experience configuring and managing Kubernetes clusters • Awareness of frontend limitations and effective backend workarounds • You’re an AI enthusiast—whether you use it to optimise your workflow, automate tasks, build side projects, or just explore what’s possible.
