AWS Workspaces Engineer (Remote Opportunity) at VetsEZ

VetsEZ is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support The HIE Analytics program with hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating Amazon WorkSpaces in enterprise environments. This role will focus on platform implementation, lifecycle management, performance optimization, and operational stability of WorkSpaces within a VA-managed cloud environment.
Responsibilities:
ā¢ Amazon WorkSpaces Platform Engineering
ā¢ Deploy and manage Amazon WorkSpaces environments
ā¢ Configure and maintain directory integration (AD Connector / Managed AD)
ā¢ Create, maintain, and version golden images
ā¢ Manage bundle selection and optimization
ā¢ Support WorkSpaces pools (if applicable)
ā¢ Implement lifecycle management (provisioning, rebuild, restore, decommission)
Performance & Stability:
ā¢ Monitor WorkSpaces performance and user experience
ā¢ Troubleshoot latency, login, and connectivity issues
ā¢ Optimize resource allocation and right-size instances
ā¢ Support patching and image updates
Automation & Infrastructure as Code:
ā¢ Implement repeatable deployments using Terraform or CloudFormation
ā¢ Automate image builds and updates where feasible
ā¢ Document configurations and deployment patterns
Operational Support:
ā¢ Support incident resolution related to WorkSpaces
ā¢ Collaborate with VAEC for networking or IAM escalations when required
ā¢ Maintain configuration documentation
ā¢ Support audit and compliance evidence gathering
Requirements:
ā¢ 5+ years AWS experience
ā¢ 2+ years hands-on Amazon WorkSpaces deployment and operations
ā¢ Directory integration (AD Connector / AWS Managed AD)
ā¢ Golden image lifecycle management
ā¢ WorkSpaces bundle performance tuning
ā¢ Strong troubleshooting and operational mindset
ā¢ Experience in enterprise or regulated environments
ā¢ Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
Additional Qualifications:
ā¢ Experience in VA or federal cloud environments
ā¢ Experience supporting analytics or data workloads
ā¢ AWS Associate certification (Solutions Architect or SysOps preferred)
ā¢ Familiarity with endpoint management strategies
