Audience Curator / Cultural Connector (Freelance, Short-Term)
About the Project
BY SHIMO is an independent creative lab at the intersection of live experience and emerging technology. This project is a short-run, art-forward live storytelling event in NYC (March 6–7). It's designed as a ticketed interactive experience - side by side with a gallery exhibit. It's not a traditional performance or nightlife event. The goal is to gather a thoughtful audience of creatives, founders, brand leaders, and cultural operators who value experimentation and shared presence.
The Role
We’re looking for a culturally connected freelancer to help personally curate and invite the right audience across both nights, seeding the social layer. This is not a mass-promotion role. While we do want a good general audience, it’s about thoughtful outreach and one-to-one invitations.
What You’ll Do
• Identify and personally invite individuals aligned with the tone and intention of the project
• Leverage strong existing network and relationships across creative, founder, brand, and tech communities
• Help shape who should be in the room
• Collaborate closely with the creator on positioning and guest mix
What This Is / Is Not
• ✔ Relationship-driven, discreet, and taste-led
• ✔ Short-term, project-based freelance role
• ✖ Not social media marketing
• ✖ Not listing submissions or ad buying
Who You Might Be
• Someone with real cultural access and strong judgment
• Comfortable reaching out personally rather than blasting
• Experienced in experiential, film, art, or culture-forward projects - think Genesis House, ARTECHOUSE, invite-only talks or gallery openings
Logistics
• NYC-based or deeply NYC-connected
• Short-term engagement (to start as soon as week of Feb 16)
• Paid freelance role (scope and rate discussed directly)
• If this sounds aligned, reach out with a short note about your background and the communities you’re most connected to.
