About the position
Responsibilities
• Conduct legal research and draft legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Provide opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.
• Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions and examinations before trial.
• Defend matters assigned by trial or dispositive hearing as applicable.
• Travel as required to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.
Requirements
• 0-3 years of experience in a related field.
• Juris Doctor degree.
• Admission to the Virginia Bar.
• Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in Virginia.
• Ability to document files in a clear, concise, professional manner.
• Ability to follow complex instructions and resolve conflicts.
• Strong organization, priority setting, and multi-tasking skills.
Nice-to-haves
• Civil litigation experience.
• Insurance defense-related litigation experience.
• Ability to communicate professionally in person, via telephone, and in written correspondence.
