Associate Substation Engineer

They are seeking an Associate Substation Engineer to work within their Power Delivery division, assisting project teams with substation engineering design and development.ResponsibilitiesAssist project teams with Physical Electrical, Protection and Control, SCADA Systems, Station Communications and Station Automation design on utility substation engineering projectsPerform basic engineering calculations to support engineering designFollow the established Quality Control Plan while completing assignmentsAssist with the preparation of project deliverables including but not limited to engineered drawings, technical reports, project-related correspondence and miscellaneous project documentationCollaborate with other substation engineering disciplines as requiredAssist the team with the development of processes and procedures to improve project execution efficiencyMaintain accurate records and files and a high level of organizationTake opportunities to improve technical knowledge and understanding of the workSupport Leidosβ goals and represent the company positively and professionallySkillsB.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university0 β 2 +years of prior relevant experience in utility substation engineering with a B.S. degree0 β 1 + years of prior relevant experience in utility substation engineering with a M.S. degreeBasic understanding of the utility grid (power generation, transmission and distribution) systemSolid understanding of the basic principles of electric powerKeen focus of quality and an appreciation for high quality deliverablesStrong attention to detailsUnderstanding of basic engineering theories and principlesUnderstanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendationsAbility to meet deadlines under high pressure situationsTeam player who can work effectively in team environment with an ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgroundsAbility to multitask on assignments while maintaining scheduleProactive communication with strong written and oral communication skillsStrong organizational skillsHigh level of computer and internet competencyProficiency with using Windows-based software programsMajor emphasis in Power Systems Design and EngineeringReceived a passing grade on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) ExamPrior relevant experience in electric power engineeringActive membership in national engineering societies (IEEE, PES, etc.)BenefitsHealth and Wellness programsIncome ProtectionPaid LeaveRetirementCompany OverviewLeidos is an industry and technology leader serving government and commercial customers with smarter, more efficient digital and mission innovations.
