Associate, Disputes and Investigations (Forensic Valuation)

The Associate role in the Disputes and Investigations practice involves resolving complex matters for clients through financial analysis, valuation, and litigation support.ResponsibilitiesYou will be part of a team helping to resolve complex matters that pose a threat or disruption to normal operations for our clientsYou will perform directed research, conduct financial, valuation, and/or damages analysis, and provide litigation supportYou will be helping our clients and their counsel understand and resolve the financial impacts around their legal matters relating to complex accounting, valuation and financial issues across a wide range of projects involving economic disputes, claims, misunderstandings, investigations of white-collar crime, forensic accounting and consulting, and post-acquisition disputesYou will develop an in-depth understanding of the client, the industry and the case to surface and address key issues, from the big picture to the smallest detailsYou will help to develop presentations and reports to effectively communicate the analyses, findings, and insights to the client and/or CourtRelying on your initiative and flexibility to deliver results in an agile and collaborative team environment, you will build strong relationships with clients, legal counsel, and expert witnessesWorking on high profile and complex matters that incorporate valuation concepts and tools, including conducting data analysis and valuation modellingWorking closely with Managing Directors, Senior Directors, Directors, and Managers to identify and provide any needed project supportProviding support on complex accounting and valuation related matters and disputes (example project types include investigations, forensic accounting, damage calculations, solvency analysis, settlement models, post-acquisition disputes, and general litigation support)Conducting research, synthesizing information, and developing reports for high profile clientsAssisting with researching technical and industry specific issuesAbility to receive and act upon constructive feedbackDeveloping and suggesting solutions to complex problems by thinking 'outside the box'Clearly presenting findings to internal team membersCreating a learning environment by providing constructive 360-degree feedbackCreating an inclusive team working environment with trust and respect, seeking different viewpoints that lead to continuous improvement and growthCultivating and maintaining positive, productive, and professional relationships with colleaguesProactively communicating efficiently and effectively to all levels of the engagement teamBalancing multiple client projects and other responsibilitiesSupporting internal development of valuation frameworks, modeling templates, and analysis toolsSkills1 to 5 years of experience in valuation, public audit and/or a forensic and dispute consulting practiceKnowledge of financial statement entry and analysis, KPI development and benchmarking, comparative analysis, and financial forecasting development (three-statement modeling)Experience working on various types of complex valuation matters including restructuring (e.g., solvency) and support conclusions for key assumptionsAbility to demonstrate knowledge in valuation standards (fair market value, fair value, investment value, and liquidation value)Applied understanding of valuation approaches including market (guideline, transaction), income (DCF, capitalization of earnings), cost/asset, and premise of value (going concern and liquidation)Experience in performing financial statement analysis including the use of trend, common-size, and ratio analysesExperience in three-statement financial modeling, scenario stress modelling, and creating models from scratchAbility to create discount rates using BUM, CAPM, and WACCPractical working knowledge of control premia / minority interest discounts, as well as NAV and DLOM development via OPM frameworksAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel for purposes of extensive data analysis and valuation modelingProficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPointProficient in use of market intelligence platforms (S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg etc.)Excellent written and oral communication skillsEffective interpersonal and team management skillsHigh level of attention to detail and accuracyAbility and willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule in order to meet client needsHybrid - Ability to work in a flexible hybrid work arrangement, part time in physical office and remoteFlexibility to travelEstimate time required for various project tasks and workstreams and deliver resultsExecute on and manage multiple workstreamsDevelop/implement solutions to complex problems;
