Chewy seeks an Associate Director of Engineering to lead our Mobile Application Shared Services group. This high-impact role offers exposure across our entire ecosystem, shaping the architecture, design, and features that power our rapidly growing retail business through our mobile applications.As a key engineering leader, you will own and scale a team's of engineers who develop, maintain, and improve mobile applications, while also defining the technical vision and roadmap for our mobile products. You will lead all aspects of Chewy's iOS and Android mobile apps including the customer experience, platform, quality, and release components. Lead and Build High-Performing Teams - Manage multiple agile teams of software engineers and development managers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
Drive Technical Strategy - Influence architectural decisions, design scalable solutions, and ensure robust platform performance to meet growing business needs.
Deliver Impactful Solutions - Influents and execute on an ambitious roadmap, expanding the impact of our mobile platforms.
Mentor and Develop Talent - Invest in the career growth of engineering leaders and technical teams, cultivating a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Champion Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner with Business, Product, Design, and Engineering Partner teams to align engineering efforts with company objectives.
Champion Best Practices - Drive engineering excellence in modern mobile application software development, testing, automation, security, and production operations.
Ensure Scalability & Performance - Lead initiatives to maintain and enhance a resilient, high-performance software platform that scales with our business.
What We're Looking For

10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years leading mobile engineering teams.
5+ years of experience in engineering management
Deep knowledge of native mobile development (Swift, Kotlin), hybrid & cross-platform solutions a plus.
Strong understanding of mobile architectures, API integrations, cloud infrastructure, and performance optimization.
Experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and release management.
Proven experience leading engineering managers, senior engineers, and Staff+ Engineers in high-impact environments.
Strong operational and project management skills with the ability to navigate complex challenges.
BS or MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field.
Bonus

Experience working in ecommerce, marketplaces, or high-traffic consumer applications.
Hands-on expertise with the Java ecosystem and AWS cloud technologies.
