The Associate Director, Category Development - Sustainability (Animal Welfare) at Compass Group oversees the implementation of sustainability strategies related to animal welfare. Job Summary The primary duty of the Associate Director, Category Development - Sustainability (Animal Welfare) is to oversee the development, implementation, and management of sustainability strategies and goals related to animal health and welfare. This includes ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements for categories such as meat, poultry, dairy, eggs, and other commodities as needed. The role is pivotal in benchmarking trends, driving innovative practices, and fostering collaboration internally and externally to advance sustainability initiatives. Other duties include providing timely reporting updates and broader company leadership and support comprehensive business reviews and deliver best in class industry solutions that will enable growth and value for internal and external stakeholders. This role is ideally based in Charlotte, NC (Hybrid) but open to remote candidates. Responsibilities: • Lead the creation and execution of sustainability strategies, including goal and policy-setting processes for animal welfare, aligned with industry best practices and compliance requirements. • Identify and address emerging sustainability issues and opportunities for leadership and collaboration. • Execute Compass and their client’s sustainability plans, manage cross-functional projects and facilitate goal attainment related to animal health and welfare. • Maintain and enhance processes to monitor and evaluate progress against animal welfare targets. • Manage and develop long-term relationships with strategic suppliers, distributors, and industry-specific associations. • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure the range of products has been sourced is aligned to meet sustainability needs. • Collaborate with the sustainability team to maintain and update external communications, disclosures, and reports. • Represent the organization in external sustainability collaborations and forums. • Provide operational direction to the category procurement activity and seek to add value to local procurement activities by developing processes that support the overall strategy. • Analyzes data or insights to determine industry and material trends, and devises long-term development strategies for categories and alternate options. • Ownership of required internal processes including budgeting, contract attributes, benchmarking, pricing, product recommendations, etc. Apply to Foodbuy today!
