AI/ML Engineers code and develop software that deploys ML models and algorithms into production. Communicate and present complex analytics results and concepts to leadership and internal stakeholders. Employ AI and/or ML that may include natural language processing (NLP), natural language understanding (NLU), semantic understanding, intent classification, computer vision, deep learning, and automatic speech recognition (ASR).Applies deep learning technologies to give computers the capability to visualize, learn and respond to complex situations. May adapt machine learning to areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics and other products that allow users to have an interactive experience. Work with large scale computing frameworks, data analysis systems. Employees in this role are expected to apply knowledge of experimental methodologies, statistics, optimization, probability theory and machine learning using code for tool building, statistical analysis, using both general purpose software and statistical languages. Primary Responsibilities: Help design and develop the next generation of NLP, ML and AI products, and services for healthcare Develop machine learning and deep learning models and systems in domains including, but not limited to: NLP, NLU, NLG, SLU and multidimensional time series forecasting among others Be able to Quantize, Optimize GenAI models Manage NLP and ML models lifecycle for a suite of products Run large complex proof-of-concepts for the healthcare business Manage prioritization and technology work for building NLP, ML and AI solutions Lead the full end-to-end machine learning development process including data ingestion and preparation, feature engineering, analysis and modeling, model deployment, performance tracking and documentation Establish best practices for end-to-end deep learning and machine learning development cycle to ensure rigor in process and quality in outcome Work with a great deal of autonomy to find solutions to complex problems Basic, structured, standard approach to work Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field 3+ years of experience in AI/ML Experience with the full life cycle of AI/ML projects, including EDA, model development, tuning, and drift analysis Hands-on experience in delivering production-grade AI/ML projects Experience to design and architect scalable ML solutions for complex business problems Experience in leading Projects: Lead ML projects from conception to deployment, ensuring timely delivery and quality Experience in mentorship: Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the team Experience in research and innovation: Stay updated with the latest research in AI/ML and implement cutting-edge techniques Experience in cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align ML solutions with business goals Exposure to RAG modeling using vector databases (e.g., Milvus, Chroma, FAISS) Exposure in RAG, Lang Chain, Vector DBs Solid knowledge of discriminative AI model development and generative AI applications Familiarity with Python frameworks such as Flask API and Fast API Familiarity on Math behind ML and DL algorithms Proficiency in frameworks such as Scikit Learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch Proven solid programming skills in Python, with experience in pandas, numpy, and SQL At UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
