This is a one-year appointment with option for renewal, 36 weeks, to begin August 5, 2025, or as negotiated.Responsibilities:Teach up to four courses (12 credits) each semester using traditional, hybrid and online delivery methods. This position will teach in support of a baccalaureate Computer Science degree program offered by three Penn State campuses: Penn State Beaver, Penn State Brandywine, and Penn State Hazleton. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty in this consortium, teach traditional residential courses and share a portion of the curriculum to consortium campuses using a variety of distance education methods. Teaching assignments may require teaching day and/or evening as needed.Successful candidates will be able to instruct diverse courses within the Computer Science baccalaureate program. Experience teaching remotely using a variety of techniques is a plus. Examples of courses include: programming fundamentals, data structures, object-oriented programming, systems programming, computer organization and design, theory of computation, operating systems design, programming languages, and electives in the instructor’s area of expertise.Faculty are expected to engage in activities to stay current in the discipline, advise students and provide career guidance, participate in campus, university, and community service activities, and participate in course, curriculum, and program development. Ideal candidates will have interest in engaging students in co-curricular activities, such as undergraduate research, academic clubs and others.We actively look for faculty with a commitment to high quality instruction in a student -centered environment. It is a student-centered, residential campus of approximately 550 students. The coursework for the first two years of more than 160 Penn State baccalaureate majors is offered, as well as 13 baccalaureate degrees, including a B.S. in Engineering, and B.S. in Computer Science, and 5 associate degrees.Students and faculty at Penn State Hazleton have all the resources of a major research university at their disposal, but in a small college atmosphere. Class sizes are small, and the student/faculty ratio is low, so students can receive much individual attention.
