Assistant Teaching Professor - Department of Physics
Join Our Team of Innovative Educators! We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Teaching Professor to join our Department of Physics at Pennsylvania State University. As a remote role, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere and contribute to our mission of creating an inclusive, supportive, and integrated undergraduate experience.
About the Role: As an Assistant Teaching Professor, you will be responsible for a diverse range of teaching and administrative tasks, including instruction, course administration, teacher training, academic advising, and service on departmental, college, and/or university committees. You will have the opportunity to facilitate engaging and interactive class sessions, manage teams of faculty and teaching assistants, and provide guidance and support to enhance teaching skills.
Responsibilities:
Instruction: Facilitate engaging and interactive class sessions for undergraduate students, both in-person and online
Course Administration: Manage teams of faculty, graduate teaching assistants, and undergraduate learning assistants
Teacher Training: Provide guidance and support for teaching assistants and learning assistants
Academic Advising: Serve as an advisor and mentor to undergraduate students
Service: Participate in departmental, college, and/or university committees
Requirements:
Ph.D. in physics or a related field
Previous teaching experience
Interest and/or experience in evidence-based teaching methods
Strong written and oral communication skills
