Assistant Manager, Brand Communications

The Assistant Manager, Brand Communications will support the PR Department by managing press coverage, creating media lists, and assisting with communications materials while developing skills in media communications.ResponsibilitiesManage tracking of press coverage across all brands in tandem with the individual brand leads and contribute to the creation of media reportsResearch and develop new media lists for specific content pitches and maintain and update existing media contact lists on an ongoing basisAssist with development and distribution communications materials, inclusive of writing and copy editingManage communications efforts for select brand initiatives, inclusive of drafting press pitches and announcements, as well as securing media coverage and appearancesRespond to media inquiries in a timely manner in collaboration with brand leads, inclusive of providing editorial copy, images and assets and assists with coordinating interviews for pressMonitor consumer and trade media across broadcast, digital, print and social to keep the team updated on relevant reporting about our industry and what’s happening within the brands’ competitive landscapesManage awards submission calendars and submissions trackingAssist with management of media appearances, which may include calling in products, securing video, visuals, doing research, creating itineraries, helping to draft talking points, booking transportation and other logistical elementsSupport PR at events, including maintaining guest lists, handling press check-in, distributing media alerts, and developing recapsParticipate in brainstorms and ideation for PR strategy and tacticsSkillsBachelor's Degree Preferred1 - 3 years experience in public relations, communications, marketing, social media or related areasSuperior written and verbal communication skills and excellent follow-throughKnowledge of lifestyle media in areas of lifestyle, celebrity, pop culture, style, home, decor, food, beauty, entertaining, and wellnessHighly organized with an ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities, working under tight deadlinesTakes initiative Shares feedback, offers ideas, helps develop solutions to PR communications materials, issues, and other comms-relatedAbility to create press materials and interact effectively with internal and external contactsKnowledge and comfort using social media platforms to generate brand awarenessUnderstanding of key databases such as Muckrack, Cision, etc. and working knowledge of Google SuiteExperience pitching stories to the mediaAbility to research, assess and access resourcesComfortable working both independently of others and as a team playerSelf-motivated, solution-oriented, and creative with an ability to think outside the boxBenefitsMedicalDentalVisionPrescription drug coverageUnlimited paid time off (PTO)Adoption or surrogate assistanceDonation matchingTuition reimbursementBasic life insuranceBasic accidental death & dismembermentSupplemental life insuranceSupplemental accident insuranceCommuter benefitsShort term and long term disabilityHealth savings and flexible spending accountsFamily care benefitsA generous 401K savings plan with a company match program10-12 paid holidays annuallyGenerous paid parental leave (birthing and non-birthing parents)Voluntary benefits such as pet insuranceAccident, critical and hospital indemnity health insurance coverageLife and disability insuranceCompany OverviewPeople Inc. is a digital media company that specializes in research, technology, finance, operations, and consumer services.
