The Assistant Designer is responsible for assisting with the creation of commercially viable product designs across collections, coordinating designs that align with the overall business strategy, and applying knowledge of fashion trends to meet customer needs.ResponsibilitiesAssist the design team in the creation of brand-right, commercial designs that reflect the conceptual direction/business strategyDeliver design sketches/prototypes and provide clear specifications for constructionBuild and maintain the sample roomCreate flat sketches, CAD images, and tech packs to scalePrepare design team for routine and milestone meetings, including the coordination of line presentation boards/tableaus and selection of product samplesCommunicate ongoing development details to internal partners (i.e. Production, Tech, Merchants) and vendors, ensuring all communication is flowing to the correct peoplePartner with technical design on function and execution of prototypesTrack and organize development samples, ensuring they are delivered within required timelines and seamlessly passed off to key partiesAttend routine team meetings and key partner alignment sessionsAdapt designs based on feedback, incorporating for finalizationApply processes to understand/anticipate the needs of the customer in order to exceed customer expectations and readily react to their needsUtilize resources in sourcing new ideas, both internally and externally, and stay up to date on competitor research/trend analysisCommunicate point of view clearly through mood boards and concept tearsAchieve set goals with acute attention-to-detail, tracking progress & anticipating potential issuesPursue/embrace opportunities to personally grow and develop skills/competenciesDevelop and understand the VS eye/brand identity and specific categoryBuild and maintain effective relations with key partnersSeek to improve process to deliver efficiently with speed/agilitySkillsBachelor's degree or equivalent experienceEntry level with some design experience in a comparable retail environmentMicrosoft Office, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign proficiency; Centric a plusExceptional talent with a commercial fashion eye and detail in product styling/performanceExceptional organizational skillsAbility to recall informationCustomer service philosophyCollaborative partner with a team-oriented approachHighly motivated, passionate and results orientedSolid communication and presentation skillsSolid understanding and ability to communicate construction instructionsChampion for change and able to react with speed and agilityFlexible and creative problem solverPersonal professionalism and accountabilityMust be able to work a hybrid schedule in our New York City officeCompany OverviewVictoria’s Secret & Co.
