Assistant Designer

SWIM USA is the premiere designer and manufacturer of women's swimwear located in New York City. They are currently seeking a dynamic Assistant Designer to support the design team in developing an elevated swim and beachwear assortment for a leading global fashion brand.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for YPLM design owned functionsUse illustrator and photoshop to create cads with color and print dropped inKeep working line lists updated based on meetingsSupport design team in review and comment on product development needs (Lab dips, strike offs, trims, visual appearance & fit of styles)Follow a Time and Action calendar. Keep organized design notes and keep clear communicationExecute technical sketches for embellishments and hardware/trim developmentsParticipate in development of prints working with design and print teamParticipate in fittings and offer up comments and suggestions. Must be well versed in garment construction and featuresOrganize strike offs for easy reference when neededOrganize and create presentation materials for client meetingsAll other duties as assigned by the Design teamSkillsHigh School diploma or equivalent OR Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related fieldsMinimum 1-3 years as Assistant DesignerStrong sketching and illustration ability-fluent in Illustrator, experience in PhotoshopFluent in YPLM systemsInDesign a plus, working knowledge of Excel and 3D designMust have clear communication, strong organizational skills, good judgement, etcMust be a team player, reliable, and possess high quality of workMust be able to adapt to fast paced environment and deliverablesMust be able to stand, sit, and walk 8 hours/dayCompany OverviewSWIM USA designs, manufactures, and markets branded, licensed, and private label swimwear.
