Applied Instructor of Spanish
Job Description
The School of Language and Literature at The University of Tulsa seeks candidates to fill a position of applied Instructor of Spanish, beginning August 2023. Candidates will teach courses in Spanish language at the beginning, intermediate, and early advanced undergraduate levels. Salary commensurate with education and experience. TU is a small, private research university with approximately 4000 undergraduate and graduate students. It is located in midtown Tulsa, 2 miles from downtown. Both areas are undergoing an exciting period of growth and are home to vibrant art and music scenes, as well as a new microbrewery district. Tulsa is a mid-sized (population ~400,000), family-friendly, affordable place to live, with easy access to urban, suburban, and rural areas. The city of Tulsa is nestled in an area where the Muscogee Creek, Cherokee, and Osage tribal territories share a common boundary. Tulsa is also home to The Gathering Place , an expansive riverside park, that Time magazine calls âOne of the Worldâs Greatest Placesâ ( https://www.gatheringplace.org/ ). Oklahoma is geographically diverse, including plains, grasslands, rocky mesas, and mountains, and is culturally unique as it is home to 39 federally-recognized Native American tribes.

Typical physical activity associated with in-person instruction. Remote work is not possible for this position.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have completed all requirements for a Masterâs degree by August 1, 2023, and have a demonstrated record of a high degree of success in classroom language instruction. Native or near-native proficiencies in both Spanish and English are required, along with strong commitment to quality undergraduate teaching.
