Job Summary:
Apple is seeking a skilled and passionate Networking Engineer to join the Core Networking team. This role focuses on designing and developing the next generation of networking technologies for Apples diverse product ecosystem, including macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS. The successful candidate will contribute to enhancing operating system networking components, APIs, protocols, and interfaces while navigating a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate on the design and optimization of networking components across Apples platforms.
Develop and enhance system-level networking software using industry best practices.
Balance trade-offs between performance, efficiency, usability, and security to achieve optimal results.
Engage in API development, protocol design, and interface enhancement.
Utilize troubleshooting tools (e.g., packet sniffers, protocol analyzers) to diagnose and resolve networking issues.
Work cross-functionally with various teams to ensure seamless integration of networking technologies.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in networking software development.
Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or Objective-C.
Comprehensive understanding of TCP/IP protocols, including IPv6.
Hands-on experience with BSD/Linux kernel network stacks.
Knowledge of wireless networking concepts, including Wi-Fi and cellular technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with OpenWRT or Wi-Fi router development.
Familiarity with IP routing concepts and protocols.
macOS and iOS development experience.
API development expertise.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to thrive in a collaborative environment.
Key Skills:
Solid software design and development abilities.
Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on ownership and accountability.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under minimal supervision.
A proactive mindset and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
