AP English Tutor (Remote)
Job Description: As an AP English Tutor, you will provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring sessions to high school students preparing for the AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition exams. You will help students develop their reading, writing, and analytical skills to succeed in their coursework and on their exams. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions with students via online platforms. • Assess students’ understanding of the AP English curriculum and identify areas for improvement. • Develop customized lesson plans tailored to students’ individual learning needs. • Explain literary concepts, rhetorical techniques, and analysis methods clearly and effectively. • Assist students with reading comprehension, essay writing, and critical analysis of texts. • Provide guidance on writing strong theses, constructing well-organized essays, and using textual evidence effectively. • Prepare students for AP English exams with practice tests, review sessions, and exam strategies. • Track and report students' progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents. • Stay updated with the latest AP English exam trends, resources, and requirements. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Literature, Education, or a related field. • Strong knowledge of AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition curricula and exam requirements. • Previous tutoring or teaching experience, especially in AP English, is preferred. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to explain complex literary concepts in a simple and understandable manner. • Reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional environment for conducting sessions. • Proficiency in using online tutoring tools and platforms. Preferred Qualifications: • Teaching certification or advanced degree in English, Literature, or Education. • Experience with AP English exam preparation. • Familiarity with online tutoring platforms and digital teaching tools. • Ability to tutor additional AP subjects is a plus.
