Analyst, AML Compliance
Western Union is seeking a detail-oriented, data-driven Analyst to join their Compliance Systems & Analytics team. This role involves delivering and gathering requirements for compliance templates, collaborating across various departments to meet regulatory obligations and support product modernization.ResponsibilitiesPerform detailed analysis of GSI filter calibration settings and parameters to ensure filters are operating as intendedAssess calibration accuracy and alignment with defined business, technical, or compliance requirementsValidates that filters are appropriately tuned to detect relevant patterns while minimizing false positives and false negativesContinuously monitor filter outputs to evaluate performance, stability, and effectivenessConduct trend analysis and variance analyses to measure the impact of calibration changesIdentify anomalies, deviations, or degradation in the filter over timeExecute controlled testing of filter adjustments to confirm that performance aligns with expected outcomesDocument calibration testing methodologies, outcomes, or over-triggering eventsMaintain detailed records of calibration activities, improvement initiatives, and key insightsSupport audit and compliance inquiries with clear data-backed calibration documentationCollaborate with relevant teams (operations, risk, engineering) to resolve identified issuesPartner with Risk and Compliance teams to understand regulatory use cases, pain points, and future-state needs to meet regulatory obligationsCollaborate with QA and UAT for various front-end groups to ensure compliance requirements are metCommunicate and manage requirements expectations to stakeholders and external product organizationsSkillsBachelor's degree required1+ years in AML or comparable field with professional experience in data analysis or business intelligenceSQL skills required, with proven experience writing complex queries, optimizing performance, and handling large datasetsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in identifying root causes behind anomaliesExperience working with complex systems across multiple stakeholder groups and domainsAbility to effectively communicate business requirements to business and technical audiencesAbility to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks independentlyExcellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, especially in a cross-functional, matrixed environmentStrong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and preferably MS AccessMust possess well developed interpersonal skills and be able to function well within a team-oriented environmentStrong working knowledge of Snowflake or equivalent cloud-based data warehousing platforms preferredAbility to parse, query, and analyze JSON structures within analytical workflowsFamiliarity with Python for data manipulation, automation or rule performance modeling a plusPrefer experience in compliance including knowledge and understanding of anti-money laundering acts, laws and regulations as well as anti-money laundering issues and trendsBenefitsPaid Time offMedical, Dental and Life InsuranceParental LeaveGlobal Adoption Assistance401K planCompany OverviewWestern Union provides consumers and businesses with fast, reliable and convenient ways to send and receive money around the world.
