Key Responsibilities:
Tutor students in reading, math, and language arts, both individually and in small groups
Provide academic and cultural developmental support to eligible ANE students, integrating into classrooms with high numbers of ANE students
Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement strategies for supporting Alaska Native/American Indian students
Maintain accurate records and implement plans to ensure student progress and program effectiveness
Communicate effectively with students, parents, supervisors, and other support staff
Demonstrate sensitivity to unique and challenging student differences, adapting instruction to meet individual needs
Essential Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; ANE program tutors working in a Title I School-wide program must possess a total of 48 hours of college credit, an associate's degree, or have passed the ParaPro Assessment
Experience working with children in an instructional environment, preferably with Native communities
Knowledge of computers and word processing software, with strong math, reading, writing, and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to work effectively with students, parents, supervisors, and other support staff, demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Sensitivity to unique and challenging student differences, with a commitment to cultural awareness and understanding
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's or bachelor's degree in education, Native American studies, or a related field
Experience working with Alaska Native cultures and communities, with a deep understanding of local customs and traditions
Certification or training in education, tutoring, or a related field
Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate with students and families in their native language
