Position Overview: Airport Ramp Agent

As a Ramp Agent at arenaflex, you'll work in the great outdoors to coordinate aircraft on the ground, handle freight and baggage, and ensure our ground operations run like clockwork. You'll be part of a collaborative team that thrives under pressure and takes pride in meeting flight schedules. Key Responsibilities

As a Ramp Agent, you'll be responsible for a wide range of ground operations tasks that are essential to our daily flight operations. Your duties will include:

Customer Service & Communication

Providing friendly, professional support to all internal and external customers
Maintaining positive relationships with passengers, colleagues, and external partners
Delivering excellent customer service to individuals seeking to travel or utilize cargo services
Communicating effectively through radio equipment and verbal instructions


Aircraft Loading & Unloading Operations

Loading, unloading, servicing, guiding, and directing aircraft on the ramp
Handling passenger baggage, air cargo, mail, and company materials
Managing all aspects of loading, stowing, and unloading items according to predetermined plans
Operating jetway stairs to deliver checked items from the gate to the aircraft cargo hold
Receiving, delivering, and transporting freight and baggage to and from aircraft


Cargo & Freight Management

Warehousing, weighing, stacking, receiving, and delivering air freight
Checking air freight against accompanying documentation to identify discrepancies
Reviewing freight documentation for accuracy and making necessary corrections
Protecting customer baggage, air freight, airmail, and company materials from weather, loss, theft, or damage


Aircraft Cleaning & Maintenance

Performing interior aircraft cabin cleaning, including vacuuming upholstery
Cleaning windows, galleys, and disposal containers according to established procedures
Cleaning and servicing lavatories and operating lavatory service trucks
Disposing of contents according to established health and safety guidelines


Equipment Operation

Operating and driving automated equipment including belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, pushback tugs, baggage trucks, lavatory trucks, and de-icers
Physically moving push carts and containers around the ramp area
Working in and between passenger terminals, hangars, and airfreight facilities


Safety & Compliance

Completing all required documentation and paperwork related to job duties
Entering information into the company's data systems as required
Adhering to all safety protocols and regulations
Being aware of moving vehicles and aircraft at all times
Potentially handling emergency situations as they arise


Note: Duties may vary based on the size and organization of the station. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by supervisors as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Physical Requirements: Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including:

Standing for extended periods
Lifting and carrying baggage and cargo (up to 50 lbs repeatedly)
Bending, reaching, and working in awkward positions
Working outdoors in various weather conditions
Walking significant distances across the airport ramp


Availability: Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays
Background Check: Must pass all required background checks and security screenings


Preferred Skills & Experience

Previous experience in ground operations, warehouse, or logistics preferred
Forklift or heavy equipment certification is a plus
Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work well under pressure and handle stressful situations
Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Capability to work under stressful conditions and meet tight deadlines
Strong ability to understand reports, follow instructions, and learn ramp operations procedures
Awareness of hazardous situations and ability to handle emergencies appropriately
Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and through radio equipment
Understanding of safety protocols around moving vehicles and aircraft


Training & Development

At arenaflex, we invest in our people! All new Ramp Agents will participate in our comprehensive training program. You must successfully complete the training with a score of 90% or higher, followed by a evaluation period. We provide:

Work Environment

As a Ramp Agent, you'll work primarily outdoors on the airport ramp. This means you'll be exposed to various weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind. You'll also be around aircraft and ground support equipment noises, exhaust, dust, and dirt for extended periods. The work is physical and active – you'll be on your feet, moving around the aircraft and handling cargo throughout your shift.
