Join the Launch Math & Science Centers Team as an Afterschool STEM Instructor + Tutor Launch Math & Science Centers is a pioneering educational organization dedicated to inspiring young minds through innovative afterschool programs that merge engaging learning experiences with cutting-edge STEM curriculum. About Our Programs Launch provides a variety of afterschool classes and tutoring sessions focused on STEM subjects and math. Our programs cater to students in grades K-8 and are designed to be engaging, interactive, and fun. Examples of our STEM classes include: Robotics and coding Engineering and architecture Environmental science and sustainability "I Wanna Be..." series featuring astronaut, scientist, and engineer We also offer private or group math sessions focused on remediation, homework help, and test prep. As a Launch Instructor, you'll have the opportunity to work with students individually, in small groups, and in afterschool classes, leading project-based enrichment classes and tutoring students in math. Key Responsibilities As an Afterschool STEM Instructor + Tutor, your primary responsibilities will include: Providing top-quality instruction utilizing proven Launch methods, curriculum, and provided materials Enthusiastically engaging students during instructional sessions and helping them gain confidence in their ability to learn and succeed Constantly assessing and considering ways to improve the classroom experience Maintaining regular communications with the Launch Program Coordinators Building hands-on projects with kids and encouraging a love for STEM subjects Requirements and Qualifications To be successful as an Afterschool STEM Instructor + Tutor, you'll need: Subject matter expertise in related sciences, tech, or math for STEM classes A passion and skill for building hands-on projects with kids Ability to code using Scratch, Python, App Inventor, or Java (a big plus) Strong proficiency in primary school math through Algebra, with Precalculus a plus, for math tutoring A strong desire to teach children and a personable, friendly, reliable, and communicative demeanor Previous experience working with students as a tutor or in a similar capacity A relatively flexible schedule and the ability to commit to servicing students for an extended duration, preferably a full academic year Most importantly, the belief that every student can learn and love math and science Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience with project-based learning and STEM education Familiarity with educational technology and software Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances What We Offer As a Launch Instructor, you'll enjoy: A competitive salary of $25 per hour A flexible schedule and part-time position All curriculum and materials provided (no need to create lesson plans) The opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive team environment The chance to make a positive impact on students' lives and inspire a love for STEM subjects Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Launch Math & Science Centers, we're committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our instructors.
