POSITION OVERVIEW: Responsible for recommending measures and educational guidance that reduce or eliminate accidents as well as monitor and ensure compliance with applicable safety laws, regulations and established company policies and procedures ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Monitor and audit safety related work performance of all employees to ensure compliance with safety policies and safe work practices Work with Driver Development Specialist to ensure compliance of FSMCA regulations as well as Accident follow-up as dictated by Driver Safety Review guidelines Ensure all accidents/incidents and injuries are investigated timely, contributing factors identified and improvement plans implemented to prevent recurrence. Work with the Telematics department to work through investigation of accidents and any Hours of Service (HOS) violations encountered Inspect service center and fleet maintenance facilities as required Participate actively in local, State & National organizations and represent FXF in a professional manner (TDC, NTDC, NAIC, CVSA) Partner with vendors at all levels to ensure compliance and educational guidelines are within scope of FXF and the governing body’s regulatory requirements Administer and evaluate Safety audit procedures, provide improvement plans, program suggestions and implement changes to address/resolve identified trends and ensure OSHA and Regulatory compliance at the district level Collaborate with other departments to develop sustainable plans of communication pertaining to Safety Establish goals and objectives for safety professionals and implement company safety policies and procedures. Utilize QDM methodology to evaluate and develop sustainable action plans. Identify/analyze potential workplace hazards, establish procedures and make recommendations to ensure safety policy policies and practices are put in place Work with Learning & Development to ensure design and development of instructional and training programs for the safety of employees Maintain safety resources library and record keeping systems Plan, organize and conduct safety meetings and awareness campaigns throughout the year to build safety culture Work with District leadership teams as well as Fleet Maintenance to monitor Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) scores and address concerns Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures Perform other duties as required Disclaimer: This job description is general in nature and is not designed to contain or to be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to the job. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience plus five (5) years’ experience in environmental health and safety or related field, and/or experience in LTL industry Experience and understanding of accepted loss prevention/safety and risk management practices Hands-on experience in developing and maintaining safety regulations as outlined by state and federal law for the transportation and trucking industry Expert knowledge of Department of Transportation, OSHA and governmental regulations (federal, state and city) concerning safety/compliance Professional certifications (i.e., N.A.T.M.I., CDS, CSS, or other nationally recognized certifications) preferred Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with double/triple (T) and Hazmat (X) endorsements, preferred Problem solving and decision making skills Good time management and organizational skills Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong human relations and communication skills WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to travel Must be able to work different shifts as required Preferred Qualifications: Pay Transparency: Pay: Additional Details: FedEx Freight is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disabled and veterans. • Know Your Rights • Pay Transparency If you have a disability and you need assistance in order to apply for a position with FedEx Freight, please call 800-888-8252 or e-mail at [email protected].
