Job Summary We're seeking highly qualified Adjunct Faculty members to teach core program courses in English and Writing, specifically in our foundational core course, "Experiencing Literature" (ENG 201), and/or our First Year Seminar (FYWS). As an Adjunct Faculty member, you'll be responsible for providing high-quality instruction, mentoring students, and contributing to the academic and intellectual life of our community. Key Responsibilities: Teach core program courses in English and Writing, including "Experiencing Literature" (ENG 201) and/or First Year Seminar (FYWS) Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assignments, and assessments that promote student learning and success Provide individualized support and guidance to students, fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and other academic initiatives Collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment Contribute to the university's mission and values, promoting a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion Requirements Essential Qualifications: Master's degree (MA, MFA, or PhD) in English, Writing, or a related field Excellent teaching skills and references Ability to work outside your area of specialization Strong communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to the university's mission and values Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience at the college or university level Experience with curriculum development and course design Familiarity with online teaching platforms and technologies Experience working with diverse student populations Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you'll need: Strong pedagogical skills and a passion for teaching Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced academic environment Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits Sacred Heart University is committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our faculty members.
