Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Benefit Eligible Yes Screening Date 2025-08-22 Job Description Summary Miami University Libraries seeks an Acquisitions Librarian; Assistant Librarian or Associate Librarian who is flexible, forward-thinking, and detail-oriented for the Access and Borrow Department. The successful candidate will manage a $4 million acquisitions budget and oversee purchasing and licensing physical and electronic formats. Working in a team environment, the Acquisitions Librarian will serve as an active member with other parties (library, university) to support library collections. The position carries responsibilities for scholarly activities and professional service for promotion and continuing contract. Job Description The Acquisitions Librarian manages and ensures efficient and effective workflows for acquiring materials, including gifts program; Works with subject librarians to purchase and/or replace appropriate materials and serves on collections management committee; Oversees acquisitions accounting and budgeting including fiscal records maintenance and audit requirements; Creates and maintains departmental documentation of policies, procedures, and operational materials; Builds and maintains relationships with vendors including serving as administrator for GOBI and other vendor platforms; Reviews and negotiates new license agreements in collaboration with campus partners; Contributes to ongoing integration of departmental staff through training on acquisitions-related aspects, data analysis, and/or automation; Maintains and enhances professional skills through regular and meaningful professional development activities; pursues an active career path contributing to the field of academic librarianship; and other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree from an ALA-accredited Library and Information Science Program, or international equivalent; Appointment as Associate Librarian requires an established record of service and scholarship as described in the requirements. Consideration may be given to candidates with experience with acquisitions, license negotiations, electronic resources, and/or technical services in academic institutions; Experience with Ex Libris’s Alma, Ebsco Holdings Management; Experience with acquisitions in a consortial environment.
