Accounts Payable Staff Accountant
Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, and maintaining financial records in compliance with GAAP. This role requires strong analytical skills and proficiency in accounting software, as well as a solid understanding of financial concepts.
Duties
ā¢ Process and verify invoices for payment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
ā¢ Maintain accounts payable records, including vendor information and payment history.
ā¢ Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
ā¢ Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to accounts payable activities.
ā¢ Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
ā¢ Support payroll management by ensuring timely processing of employee reimbursements and related transactions.
ā¢ Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Workday for data entry and reporting.
ā¢ Conduct journal entries and maintain the general ledger accounting system.
ā¢ Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and internal controls.
Requirements
ā¢ Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role.
ā¢ Strong knowledge of financial concepts, including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation.
ā¢ Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Paychex, ADP, PeopleSoft).
ā¢ Familiarity with HRIS systems (such as Kronos or UltiPro) is a plus.
ā¢ Understanding of GAAP principles and public/non-profit accounting practices.
ā¢ Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
ā¢ Strong data entry skills with proficiency in 10 key typing.
ā¢ Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple tasks effectively.
