Accounting Specialist

They are seeking an Accounting Specialist to support financial operations, ensure accuracy across key accounting functions, and maintain high-quality financial data.ResponsibilitiesEnsure financial data aligns accurately with Property & Casualty premiums, payments, billing, and policy informationSupport premium collection activities, including recording and reconciling premium paymentsPartner with internal teams to address questions, ensure billing accuracy, and maintain smooth financial workflowsEnter financial data including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoices, journal entries, and expense reportsReconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and other accounts; identify and resolve discrepanciesVerify and process vendor invoices, ensuring correct coding and adherence to internal proceduresTrack and monitor departmental expenses to support budget managementMaintain organized and accurate financial records, documentation, and filesSupport internal and external audits by preparing documentation and assisting with audit inquiriesEnsure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirementsAssist in preparing financial reports under the guidance of senior accounting staffIdentify opportunities for process improvements, automation, or workflow enhancementsUse accounting software and related tools effectively to support accuracy and efficiencyCollaborate with cross‑functional teams to strengthen financial processes and continuous improvement initiativesSkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams) and comfort with accounting softwareExceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliationStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesEffective written and verbal communication skillsHigh integrity and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial informationPrior accounting or finance experience; insurance industry experience is helpful but not requiredBasic analytical skills to identify discrepancies and evaluate financial dataFamiliarity with premium accounting processesBenefitsMedicalDentalVisionLife and disability coverage401(k)Generous PTOMoreCompany OverviewAlera Group is a growing leader, reimagining the complex risk management, insurance and financial services delivery experience through intentional collaboration connecting clients to holistic solutions that protect and grow all they value most.
