Schedule: 1.0 FTE - 0.6 FTE; Full benefits at 0.80 FTE (Schedule to be determined)

Summary: The accounting assistant is responsible for supporting the accounting department by performing clerical tasks related to financial transactions, including data entry, invoice processing, maintaining records, assisting with the preparation of financial statements, and ensuring the accuracy of all financial information. This role utilizes accounting software in managing day-to-day financial operations. Qualified candidates must be self-directed and able to multitask in a high-paced environment with minimal direction. A thorough knowledge of the workings of medical practices is a requirement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Process invoices accurately and timely
• Work with vendors to ensure invoice and statement accuracy
• Work with internal departments to confirm receipt of goods
• Process payment reminders
• Helping to track expenses against budgeted amounts
• Assist in preparation of monthly reports for management
• Assist in preparation of quarterly physician and management compensation structures
• Special projects as needed

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:

At least 2 years of relevant business experience. Experience in healthcare is required. Experience in ophthalmology is preferred. Candidates will complete some on-the-job training, but should already have the required skills, knowledge and work-related experience.

Language Ability:

Fluency of the English language. Excellent oral and written comprehension and expression. Speech clarity and recognition. Active learning and listening. Ability to respond to common inquiries and provide information to patients and colleagues. Good interpersonal skills.

Math Ability:

Ability to use basic mathematical methods or formulas for business related calculations. Ability to calculate percentages and make estimates. Ability to compile, tabulate, or verify information or data.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to think critically, problem solve, use judgment and make decisions. Ability to collect data and establish facts. Ability to use logic. Ability to analyze data or information and use deductive and inductive reasoning.

Computer Skills:

Charting Software, Document Management Software, Microsoft Office Suite, Email, Calendar and Scheduling Software, Medical Software, Internet, Data Entry, Inventory Management Applications.

Certificates and Licenses:

Ophthalmic Coding Specialist preferred but not required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.
